2008 Journalism Conference Homepage
Campus Progress and The Nation Wednesday, July 9, 2008 Campus Progress and The Nation magazine’s annual National Youth Journalism Conference is a day of workshops, skill sessions, and panel discussions with award-winning editors and writers from the nation’s top publications. This day was modeled after the successful journalism conferences Campus Progress and The Nation put on in D.C. and Los Angeles. Participants are given the opportunity to hear from great speakers, network with journalists, and learn the skills needed to succeed in journalism. Past speakers have included Barbara Ehrenreich, Eric Schlosser, Naomi Klein, E.J. Dionne, Helen Thomas, and Seymour Hersh. This year’s conference was our biggest and best yet. If you missed it, we hope to see you next year! Campus Progress works to help young people make their voices heard on issues that matter. Through an online magazine and student publications, public events, and grassroots issue campaigns, Campus Progress acts to empower new progressive leaders nationwide as they develop fresh ideas, communicate in new ways, and build a strong progressive movement. The Nation, America's oldest weekly magazine, was founded by abolitionists in 1865. For more than 140 years, the magazine has been considered one of the country's premiere journalistic voices on politics, culture and the arts. The Nation stages an annual student writing contest, hosts regular student conferences, and produces a student-oriented website.
