Dead End For Anti-DREAM Lawsuit In Denver. Former Congressmember Tom Tancredo failed to find an out-of-state student willing to file a lawsuit with him against Metro State University. After the Colorado state legislature dismissed Colorado ASSET, a measure to provide affordable tuition for undocumented students, Metro State University passed its own policy to redress tuition inequality. Undocumented students may currently attend Metro State for $7,000, compared to nearly $16,000 tuition for out-of-state students. Tancredo intended to sue Metro State on the grounds that "the illegal immigrant should not receive a lower tuition rate than that of an out-of-state student." New Jersey Condom Ambulance To The Rescue! Kyle McCabe, a College of New Jersey sophomore, created "CondAm," a condom delivery service for students who need a condom, and need it now. While McCabe's "ambulance" looks more like a bike and a flashing light on his helmet, he can arrive at any student's door within minutes of their placing an order via text, phone or web for one condom ($3) or ten (15$). Upon delivery, McCabe asks his customers to sign a waiver releasing him of liability should the condom fail to prevent pregnancy and/or any STD. McCabe's hours of operation are Friday through Sunday, 7pm to 3am. He's not in it for the money, he's in it to promote safe-sex for unprepared peers, he said.  [HuffPo College]

Creative Pizza Delivery For Cooper Union Protesters. Eleven students barricaded themselves in one of Cooper Union's campus buildings in lower Manhattan to protest a new college tuition policy. In the college's 110-year history, it has not charged its students tuition. The college reported a $17 million deficit for the 2011 fiscal year, making tuition proposal a seeming inevitable plan of action. To show their support , Cooper Union alums ordered pizza for the student protestors—who had been eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and canned beans since Monday afternoon when they first set up their stronghold. The demonstrators have successfully blocked off entry into their 8th floor room so delivery via window was the only option. Using a balloon, string, and counter-weight pully system, the alums delivered the pizza safely through the 8th story windows. [HuffPo College]

Obama To Appoint First Openly Gay Cabinet Member? LGBT advocates are encouraging President Obama to appoint Fred Hochberg, who would be the first openly gay Cabinet member. "There are a number of highly qualified candidates for cabinet...and Fred is definitely among them," the VP of the Human Rights Campaign, Fred Sainz, said. Hochberg served under the Clinton administration as both deputy administrator and acting administrator of the Small Business Administration. His high credentials in addition to other business management experience make him an attractive candidate for the Cabinet. Sainz told the Washington Blade that he has confidence that the President will choose individuals who "reflect the great diversity of our country," which naturally includes the possibility of an LGBT American.
