Students are required to bring laptops with AC adapters and should arrive by 9 a.m. on July 7. Breakfast and registration continue through 9:30 a.m., followed by an introduction and description of the reporting assignment from the Campus Progress J-team.
Starting at 10 a.m., students will begin their reporting and transition to writing a news story or blog entry.
Lunch is at noon at the CAP office.
At 12:45 p.m., we’ll lead a group of those who want to go to the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW). Directions (including via public transit) will be provided for those who prefer to travel on their own. Campus Progress has purchased Newseum tickets for each participant.
A team of professional journalists will meet with participants one-on-one from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for a 20-minute critique of the story they produced in the morning. Students should make their way back to the CAP office in time for their critique. The Newseum closes at 5 p.m. (Note: the gift shop and part of the museum typically remain open through 6 p.m.)
