8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Breakfast and Registration 9:00 – 9:40 a.m. Lobby Training
A general overview of the day, grassroots lobbying tactics and structure, and how to take your lobbying skills back to your community.
Presented by Campus Progress 9:40 – 10:20 a.m. Issue Breakouts Climate and Energy
The American Clean Energy and Security Act just passed the House of Representatives and is heading to the Senate. This bill is far from enough and the Senate is the last place where we’ll get a chance to strengthen it. Tell you senators you want a real ‘Clean Energy Bill’ and not one full of handouts to polluting corporations.
Presented by the Energy Action Coalition & Tommaso Boggia
College Affordability
President Obama laid out an ambitious plan to increase access to higher education and decrease the student loan burden on college graduates, but the legislature is stalling. Too many representatives are putting their banking interests in over their constituents’ and it’s about time that they get a visit from some passionate young people telling them to put students over banks.
Presented by U.S. PIRG & Pedro de la Torre Health Care
For too long we have been postponing comprehensive health care reform allowing for special interests to get increasingly more entrenched and powerful. Finally we have enough momentum to make some progress on this pervasive issue and provide health care for all, but we need to make our voices loud and heard.
Presented by HCAN & Natasha Bowens
