The 2009 Campus Progress National Conference: Delivering ChangeJuly 8, 2009 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington D.C.
You organized in your community. You registered voters. You voted. Progressives won. Now what?
At the fifth annual Campus Progress National Conference, to be held on July 8, 2009, in Washington DC, hundreds of young people will come together to address the task of Delivering Change. They will discuss the critical challenges our generation faces, and to develop the ideas, networks, and innovations that will help us meet those challenges.
Our generation has a real opportunity to deliver change – to move the country in a strongly progressive direction. Just as our hard work was essential to bringing progressive results in 2008, we need to stay dedicated to working for progressive change, to pressing government for action, to ensuring an economic recovery effort that advances opportunity for all. At the Campus Progress National Conference, we’ll come together and prove we’re serious about a progressive future, and we’re not letting anyone stand in our way.
The Conference Just Got Funnier
Campus Progress is thrilled to announce that, in Jon Stewart fashion, we’ll be “turning it over” to The Daily Show’s Emmy-nominated writer and correspondent John Oliver to address you at the 2009 National Conference.
John Oliver
Whether he’s defending English moats, braving the participants of election rallies, or bringing a unique angle to the Iranian elections, John Oliver is sure to provide comedic relief, political commentary, and much-needed lightheartedness to the issues of the day.
Campus Progress is more than excited to have him share his wisdom and ideas with a group of over 1,000 young progressives- that should include you.
John Oliver’s attendance, alongside speakers like President Clinton, Van Jones, and John Podesta, makes the 2009 National Conference one that will truly engage- not to mention entertain- young progressives from across the country.
A bit more about John: John Oliver joined “The Daily Show” in 2006. He has been nominated for both Emmys and Writers Guild Awards, and he won the Breakout Award at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. He performs stand-up around the US, and his Comedy Central Hour Special “Terrifying Times” debuted in April 2008. Along with Andy Zaltzman, he also writes and stars in a weekly podcast for The Times newspaper, “The Bugle: Audio Newspaper for a Visual World.”
