Funding Our Future

Last month, Campus Progress launched a new campaign, “Funding our Future: Our generation, our money, our priorities” in support of passage of a progressive budget in 2009. The campaign provides resources, such as an lobbying toolkit [PDF], and tips on how to write op-eds and letters to the editor, as well as up-to-date information and opportunities for young people to take action in their communities in support of progressive budget goals. The campaign focuses primarily on three key areas of the budget that would have a great impact on future economic stability: improving access and affordability of higher education, greening the economy, and reforming health care.
During the next several weeks, Campus Progress is encouraging young people to make their voices heard by writing letters to the editor and op-eds supporting bold, progressive budget goals. We also sponsored town hall meetings during the Congressional recess last week, and are hosting a National Call-In Day on Tuesday, April 21, that will give young people the opportunity to contact their Senators directly and tell them why passing a progressive budget should be a priority.
