Joseph Steve Franco
Steve Franco is the National Coordinator at Voto Latino where he oversees the organization’s national volunteer and outreach initiatives across the country. Mr. Franco facilitates Voto Latino’s bilingual voter registration efforts via partnerships with Apple/iTunes, MySpace, Univision, ClearChannel, SíTV, MTV Tr3s, as well as hundreds of individual media outlets. Voto Latino works to promote an enfranchised America by leveraging celebrity voices, the latest technology and youth to promote positive change.
Mr. Franco joined Voto Latino after graduating from UC Hastings Law School. While at Hastings, he externed for the California Supreme Court, as well as with General Electric. Mr. Franco received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, with honors. His enthusiasm for comparative Latin American politics and transnational migration led him to publish two articles while studying at Berkeley: “The Deconstruction of Ethnic Political Stereotypes and the Need to Politically Peripherize the Center: The Latino Vote.” Ethnic Studies Review, Vol. 1, No. 1, pp. 32-42 (2004), and “Contemporary Transnational Migration and its Social, Political, and Economic Impact: The Salvadoran Context.” Politica: Berkeley Undergraduate Journal of Political Science, Vol. 10, No. 2 (Spring 2004).
