Debt Hits Hard: Students Seeking a Fair Tuition

Thursday, April 16, 2009
7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Wichita State University
Rhatigan Student Center, Room 203

The rising cost of tuition and financial aid cuts are making it harder for people to attend college, and many young people are burdened with mountains of student loan debt. Students of all ages are falling behind as the gap between the rich and the poor widens. Last week’s House of Representative and United States Senate votes to pass the House and Senate budget was the first short term victory for students in this national campaign; However, we are far from being done with this battle to help make education a right and there are many forces working to take out investments to education that are good for students. Join Bill Shiebler, National Field Director from United States Student Association; Pedro de la Torre III, the Advocacy Senior Associate from Campus Progress; Lindsay McCluskey Massachusetts Students Uniting for a panel discussion on making college affordable.
