Silvia Martinez
REDTRANS is part of a regional organization that works promote respect, security and dignity for transvestite, transsexual and transgender people and to combat gender and sexual-identity discrimination directed at their communities. Ms. Martinez is a transgender activist who works in communities throughout Nicaragua to build local people’s capacities to advocate for their rights. She participated in a 2007 session of the Organization of American States, where she was one of several activists to present recommendations on behalf the LBTTTGI community to government representatives from countries throughout the Americas.
