Celebrate Tax Day With Free Donuts, Cheap Pizza And A Beer

April 14, 2008

Ugh. We just wrote out our checks to the IRS and are already dreading waiting in that line at the Post Office. Luckily, many stores, restaurants and bars are feeling our tax pain and are passing out special Tax Day treats to help us make it through April 15 this year. Check it out:

  • Stop by your neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts. The shop will pass out free donuts with the purchase of a coffee to make your Tax Day a little sweeter. [Charlotte Observer]
  • Papa John’s is taking the sting out of filling out your 1040 by offering the “pro-crust-inators” deal – order online and receive a pizza with three toppings for only $10.40. [PR Inside]
  • The Marriott in San Juan is offering an “Escape from Taxes Package.” Spend your refund on the hotel and get a refund of the local 11 percent general tax and $5 occupancy tax on your room. [Hotel Travel Discount]
  • Want to make copies of your tax returns? Head to Staples – on April 15, the store will let filers copy their returns for free (well, up to 20 pages). [Staples]
  • Coors is trying to turn April 15 from Tax Day into National Venting Day to promote their new cans with a “vent” near the mouth for smoother chugging. “Street teams will fan out in major cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Tampa to hand out promotional pamphlets that say, ‘Now that your taxes are in the mail, call your friends and start venting tonight. Highest refund buys.’” [Packaging Digest]
  • Tristan Restaurant in Charleston, S.C., will host a Toast to Better Times celebration Bring in confirmation of your filing, and get a free glass of bubbly.
  • Schuler’s Restaurant, in Marshall, MI is hosting a Tax Bash night. When your bill comes, Uncle Sam himself stops by the table and ponies up the tax on your bill! [Battle Creek]

It’ll take a lot of free champagne and copies to make up for what we had to give to Uncle Sam this year, we’re afraid. But thanks for trying.
