I am an Americorps member (National branch similar to Peace Corps). I was payed for this for 18 months (Aug. '02-April '04), but it's like the Marine Corps, in that once a member, allways a member, you just aren't expected to go around killing people fortunately.
Favorite Things:
Listening to, and, or playing Music on the djembe (African hour glass shaped hand drum), bass, guitar, harmanica, or singing.
Making hemp jewelry.
Talking, as well as writting about war and peace.
Putting in a good days work for a paycheck, or especially voulenteering for the issues I love to support.
Peace Demonstrations, books, and videos such as the "Force More Powerfull" documentary book and video series.
This book and video series documents various non-violent resistance movements through-out history such as India's movement to attain thier own soverinty, Birmingham Alabama's movement to end segregation, and the Danish resistance to Hitler's war efforts to name a few. I would reccomend checking it out. There is a great website. Just search "The Force More Powerfull." If you don't find it right away, just mail me @ johnredig@hotmail.com
Peace In my Brothers and Sisters

I believe that to attain Peace, we must converse not only as a nation, but with as many peoples as we can.

A man named Andrew wrote the first piece, or first part of the piece on a poetry group which I am a part of, and I was inspired to write the next piece, or second half.
He said I can use his part if I wish, so here I am doing just that, and thinking about using it for open mic nights.
I hope you will enjoy it.
They ask us to vote And we have no reply Your voice can and will be heard.
We scoff in their faces News is evolving everyday We choose not to notice.
History being written in front of our eyes We close them tightly.
Question authority We question those who question.
A change can be made We can spark the fire.
Educate and speak We can be relevant again!
I found his writting to be very enjoyable, but that it could be added to, although standing well on its own. So, I then wrote:
Once we open our eyes, We will see the prize.
Our world granted to us by the many, the we. United as one; untied, and undone. We will win a victory for all.
A true, and lasting freedom. Freedom from opresson is not dumb.
Freedom from the chains of war. Freedom from the chains of our Fashistic whore.
Once the guns of the corrupted world cop just drop, We all will cop a pop of the true freedom. The greatest truth is that it allready has begun.
