Military veterans have had to overcome many obstacles due to their choice of careers, but one that many do not recognize are tuition late fees.
Service people often rely on the G.I. Bill to help further their education after active duty.  However, veteran students are at odds with the Central Michigan University’s tuition payment process.

As the holiday season approaches, news outlets from around the country begin to ramp up the level of fear in the American citizen.  Is it a new terrorism threat? No.  Has some renegade dark-skinned country lead by what must be an irrational madman obtained a new weapon to destroy the lives of all Americans?  No.  It's your children’s toys, and they will kill you all.

Colleges, for institutions that are designed to educate young men and women, they have certainly dropped the ball when it comes to the Constitution.  Freedom of speech, a right protected by the first amendment of the Constitution, is under fire through campuses around the United States.  However, this issue, like many others, has become a polarizing battle cry for the two stagnant parties in American politics.  Republicans and Democrats alike are using this mandated right to wage political war against each other, leaving the American people in the blood soaked battle ground.
Events occurring this past week at the University of Florida have once again ignited this debate.  Andrew Meyer, a University of Florida Student, was tased by police following his refusal to stop asking Sen. John Kerry questions at a recent university event.  However, this is not the first case like this to have happened.
In March of 2007, Central Michigan University took action to adopt policies regulating free speech on their campus following anti-homosexual sidewalk chalkings.  These chalkings nearly lead to the labeling of one student group, Young Americans for Freedom, as a hate group.  Even though there was no evidence to support that they had any involvement in the incident, the University was marching to protect the liberal political nature of the University.

While yes, some comments made on college campuses are thoughtless and show intolerance, it is those types of comments that further the intellectual stimulation of college campuses.  Actions like these force students to review their own moral fiber and form their own opinions to the world around them.  People who try to enforce rules on campuses that create environments where people must think, speak, and behave alike can be summarized in one word.....fascist.  So remember, next time some student says a comment that you don't agree with, don't run to the administration demanding that these students be reprimanded for their comments, remember that you live in a country great enough to allow the students to say those things.
