Guardian writer Nick Cohen has repeated the same tired, New Labour rhetoric against all those who opposed the Iraq war. Like his fellow apostate Christopher Hitchens, he accuses liberals of being soft on "Islamic fascism" and supporting dictatorial regimes. Same old, same old. Soon he'll be blaming the left for cancer.
As noted on ThinkProgress, Bush mentioned that for the "national interest" he plans to send another carrier strike group to the Gulf. The more likely explanation is that he wants to continue his steps towards a military strike against Iran. Meanwhile the defense and intelligence establishments are being purged of dissenters and reports are circulating about a potential attack on Iran.

These frightening measures should send shockwaves through the progressive community. If an attack on Iran does happen, you can throw all your progressive fantasies and policy proposals out the windows. And believe me, Iran will make Iraq look like a cakewalk.

So give your Congressman or Senator a call ASAP. Tell them to investigate Bush's questionable moves towards conflict with Iran, and to oppose any such warmongering.
Ah, that nutty, authoritarian Iranian President is at it again. Again, he's making his country look worse, playing into the hands of ultra-right neocons who want to "liberate" his country. A fool.

This time he is holding a conference on Holocaust denial. Link. Supposedly its because he believes in free speech. Really? What about all those dissidents he has put in jail? What about all the restrictions on music, internet access, and student groups? In Ahmadinejad Land, free speech is confined to the freedom to speak out against America.

Oh, and I think America, like European countries, should criminalize Holocaust denial. Agree or disagree? Its a crime to be so stupid, ignorant and / or racist that you deny one of the darkest periods in human history.
