Starbucks seems to have realized that when people are paying $4 a gallon for gas, their not as likely to indulge in mocha latte- kinda. Starbucks is still after all Starbucks- an overpriced fancy company that has capitalized on Americans need for caffeine. Nonetheless, they have managed to somehow, in their Starbucks way, offer a discount to their customers. According to the Express, if you buy any Starbucks beverage in the morning, you can get any iced grande beverage for $2 after 2pm, as long as you save your receipt from your morning jolt.
While $2 for an iced beverage in the afternoon is a good deal, and an afternoon jolt is always a good thing, I have a feeling that this will lead to more people buying Starbucks in the morning and therefore more people buying Starbucks in the afternoon, which equals more money for Starbucks, even if the coffee is just $2, and less for the consumer who is supposed to be getting a good deal! Can’t Starbucks just offer all their coffee for $2 after 2 pm?
In the end though, this does amount to probably the best discount Starbucks will ever have (expect for when you’re lucky enough to snag one of their free coupons when they debut a new product!) Be sure to save your receipt though to ensure that yummy frap in the afternoon!
