Ya’ll it is so hot outside. The DC weather is even getting to me, and I am from Mississippi, where a hundred degree weather is normal in the summertime. So, I refuse to tell you to go to the Washington Mall, although it is good to see, because this brother doesn’t play with the sun. However, there are so many good places to go in DC that I have to tell you to get out of the house. One of my favorite areas in DC is Chinatown. In my opinion, this area incorporates good food with excellent entertainment all in one convenient location.

Coming from a small town (Guntown, MS), I enjoy the luxury of finding many things in one location. I can shop, buy necessities for my apartment, and catch the latest movie release in Chinatown. Urban Outfitters, during sale periods, is a nice place to go shop. In addition to clothing stores, Bed, Bath, and Beyond is within the Chinatown neighborhood. I know that this store seems like a place filled with moms, but Bed, Bath, and Beyond has many items that are essential to an apartment, like toiletries, household cleaners, and other items to keep your apartment looking halfway decent. Since DC does not seem to have a Wal-Mart anywhere in sight, Bed, Bath, and Beyond has been my stop for my Shout, Febreze, and Scrubbing Bubbles. Furthermore, if you love candy and peanuts like me, you can always pick up a box here.

Personally, I am on a tight budget, but a brother has to eat. I cannot say that I am brave enough with my 10 to 15 dollars to go into every restaurant in Chinatown, but there are some reasonable places to get your grub on. Potbelly’s sandwiches are good and they are relatively cheap. I really don’t have to tell you how good they are because they have been rated one of DC’s favorite sandwich shops. Also, Five Guys in Chinatown really gives you your money’s worth with their burgers and fries. Truthfully, if you order their famous french fries, you are liable to receive a whole bag of french fries. Since there is not a Five Guys Restaurant in MS, the bag o’ french fries was a new concept for me. Since the neighborhood is entitled Chinatown, Chinese food is available on demand. However, if you do not favor any of these restaurants, the faithful McDonald’s is available as well.

To catch this summer’s new films, Chinatown also provides you with an outstanding movie theater. If you are student, please remember to bring your school ID to receive your discount. If you are in the mood after a late movie, there is a bowling alley and a bar available in the same building.

Chinatown is truly the place with it all!
