20% of Chicago kids involved in dog-fighting?
Bad? Brilliant?

Anderson Cooper just reported a short while ago that survey research has shown 20% of Chicago elementary school students to have been directly involved in dog fights at some point or other.  Now, having been raised by wolves with no TV, my cable news sensationalism radar might not be calibrated correctly.  But does this sound like a somewhat dubious statistic to anyone else?  Anyone from the Windy City care to comment?

Either 1 out of 5 Chicago kids is watching dogs tear eachother to shreds or we're seeing some of the usual media disregard for the limitations of survey research.

Bronx Kids

Sounds high. I grew up in the Bronx and if Chicago kids are similar, the majority have better things to do with their time than watch dogs fight.

sounds to me

Sounds to me like the usual attempt to stereotype youth and make fretful parents hyperventilate. Many call me cynical and even I don't believe the world is this fucked up. Such cruelty is not accepted widely, as shown by Nike recently dumping Vick. This may be the first time in history Nike has taken a moral stand.

I'm seriously tempted to order the "All of Michael Vick's Dogs Go To Heaven" t-shirt.
