And everyone in my office in East London, South Africa, chimes in about what they think Americans should care about. The general concensus is that Americans should care more about America and less about the rest of the world.
One girl brings up Katrina, and said how pathetic it is that America hasn't rebuilt New Orleans yet.
Another guy said that America's economy is going to collapse if we don't do something about it fast. "The whole bubble is going to burst," he said.
Another of my coworkers said, "We probably think the same as most liberal Americans, because that's where we get our news." I think he's got that one wrong, but oh well.
Not one person mentioned the Iraq War until I asked them about it. "It's a given in South Africa that we all hate that," someone said.
Super Tuesday gets coverage on all the local media stations, the same as the crisis in Kenya, the Chadian rebels and the Eskom power cuts. Obviously, our elections mean a good bit to people here; however, its just another day in the office. I will, however, be up all night to watch the results thanks to the 7 hour time difference.
