I'm starting to get sick and tired of all the talk about a war with Iran.
Do you really believe that Congress is going to authorize something like this in an election year?
Do you think that the American people will accept another invasion of a sovereign nation for no good reason?
Do you really think that the rest of the world will go along with it?
Does no one realize that the US doesn't have the resources (both human and financial) to start another war?
These questions should be considered before talking about another war.
Secondly, Senator Obama has been heavily criticized for suggesting that he'd meet with the Iranian president for diplomatic talks. But guess what? He's right.
Nothing will be accomplished by threatening Iran, it'll only make them more defiant (since they, too, know that the US military doesn't have the resources to attack them). The last 7 years have shown us the results of a foreign policy based on threat and confrontation. Because of this, the US is now being perceived as the big bully instead of as the respected world leader that it once was.
Foreign policy should be based on cooperation, not confrontation. I hope the next president (whoever he/she will be) will realize that.
