So this is it. On Saturday at 11:30 AM, I'll be leaving on a jet plane and departing the district for good (at least for now). I've learned a lot this summer and, despite the tone of some of blog entries, this is an incredible and I envy those of you who are lucky enough to call this place home. Here's my take of the best (and worst) of our nation's hot, humid Capitol.

The Bests:

Eastern Market- Despite warnings that the area is unsafe, I've absolutely fell in love with the food and flea market and the surrounding areas. It's perhaps the most unassuming area of the district and always provides a nice break from the hectic week. If (when?) I move here for good, I'll definitely be making my home in South East (woot woot).

BeBar: OK, I know I've constantly ragged on this place all summer, but somewhere along the way I began to like the place. So I must admit, I've been there like 8 times and I was bound to learn to love it. The drinks are actually really great and the crowd, although not my style, is actually really fun. I need to get some of that New York judgment out of my system.

Juice Joint- Despite my best efforts at trying to avoid becoming one of those people that pays twice a much for something because it's 'organic,' I've become addicted to $6 smoothies from this little cafe on Vermont Ave. The 'Down Under' a mixture of soy, kiwi, strawberry and other delicious stuff I've forgotten, is worth every penny.

The Worst:

The Bottom Line- So in retrospect, I'm flip flopping faster than Barack Obama. Although this little dive near Faragut West is cheap and pretty fun, I think flip cup should be confined to college campuses. Also, the fact that the last time I was there I saw three roaches in the course of 5 minutes doesn't help much.

Georgetown- I know it's a big place, but Georgetown just doesn't live up to the hype. It's far, inaccessible, expensive and ostentatious. Give me Old Town Alexandria anyday!

Intern Projects- Next week I'll be changing my mind, but at the moment, I hate huge intern projects due at the end of a relatively stress-free internship. I sort of feel like it's finals period, although I think I'm more worried about presenting in front of CFOs and EVPs than a report card. Wish me luck!

Today's Sartorialist. I think this is one of the best looks of the summer. It's casual, fun, care-free and the eptiome of what summer should be like. Oh, and it's pretty darn fashionable!
