Live Music in Madam's Organ

If you find yourself in Adam’s Morgan with no set agenda, I suggest checking out Madam’s Organ, and not just because I love a good play on words. The multi-leveled Blues bar, “where the beautiful people go to get ugly,” has live music every night, a dance floor, lounge areas, pool tables, and a roof deck.

They also serve up some soul food for the hungry music listener. Madam’s Organ feels a little more sophisticated than the typical top 40s dance-a-thon that makes the neighborhood famous, but only in that gritty, New Orleans kind of way.

The ceiling on the first floor is decorated with a clutter of stuffed ram, buffalo and deer heads along with drums, guitars, and a bird on a bicycle, while the walls have pictures of musicians and a sign that reads, “Ladies kindly do your soliciting discreetly.”

A few weekends ago I saw a band called Signature Live perform there, and definitely got into the “disco jazz” covers of classic songs. Thursday nights they have Nonprofit Happy Hour, this week featuring Rails-to-Trails Conservancy for all those nature lovers. Check out their calendar for more great events or join them for weekend brunch.
