Sounds like a politically sound move on her part - Pelosi will get the investigations that she and many others want of the administration while at the same time steering clear of controversy, something that would have come up if she picked Hastings, the only impeached federal judge in our nation's history.

...As for Harman, while policy differences certainly played some role, let's not all be naive and pretend that her personal animus with Pelosi had nothing to do with it.
Harman, on TV at least, doesn't seem like a nice person at all. On the contrary she came off as condescending, arrogant, and know-it-all - willing to back the Administration because "her facts" say that they are right. Without ever disclosing the source of her information, she gives the emperor her full support.
There is no personal animus between Harman and Pelosi; they got along quite well until Harman starting backing President Bush on everything, had ethics problems, and tried to lobby Pelosi for the chairmanship of the Intelligence committee. You and your right wing friends are playing into a popular stereotype
'Tis not mere name calling. You focused on her gender. Not terribly progressive of you, eh?
""There is no personal animus between Harman and Pelosi""
...Can you actually keep a straight face when saying this?
Nancy Pelosi is LEGENDARY for demanding With-Us-Or-Against-Us personal loyalty, completely separate from policy differences. Pretty much everyone who's even tangentially dealt with her has gotten threats, veiled or explicit, from her at some point - hell, even Roll Call reporters. Don't even make me laugh.
Yes.
