In the spirit of fair play, we (Kate Monster and Tricky Tony) have decided to co-write our last post for the free food-a-thon. The competition has been stiff and there were a few times when we actually feared each other. But that is all in the past now.
Yesterday evening we both attended a Faith in Public Life event starring Senator Bob Casey, a Pro-Life Democrat from Pennsylvania. Not only was there free food at this event, but who wouldn't want to see the guy that crushed the disturbingly extreme Rick Santorum in the 2006 elections?
Prior to Casey's arrival, Kate and Tony feasted from the most comprehensive display of pizza flavors we had ever seen. All toppings from sausage to veggie to white were included. Tony again resorted to picking off his cheese, for the second time in one day (See previous post about CATO institution). Oh, the life of a vegan!
After we ravenously consumed our food, Senator Casey arrived to discuss his status as a religious public figure and the role that faith plays in the lives of other politicians. He remarked about the necessity for politicians to engage in a sincere dialogue about faith and the understanding that expressions of spirituality must be authentic.
And so ended a long, arduous day of scrounging around for free food like animals. Now that our round of the Free Food-A-Thon is officially over, Tony and Kate can finally be friends again.
