Autumn in New York ...( I mean DC )
Bad? Brilliant?

As discussed in a previous blog, the carefree days of summer are indeed over, leaving many to wonder between school and work if they will have time to go out and enjoy autumn in DC. Well, wonder no more, as autumn in DC proves to be my favorite time of year for a few reasons, the main one being that the weather is no longer unbearably hot. So enjoy the cool (but not quite California cool) weather and explore some of these options:

1)Go to a Concert:

From past experience, autumn always brings some of the best music acts to the city. Case in point: September brings Raphael Saadiq to the Black Cat and Booker T & the M.G’s for the 50th anniversary of Stax  Records. Need I say more?

2) Take a Walk (if you’re me) or a Bike Ride:

The best walk I ever had in this city was from HU Hospital to Georgetown.  My Ipod was charged, my chucks were tied tight, and I enjoyed the scenery of DC. I suggest you do the same (feel free to take a different route) during the fall.

3) Howard Homecoming

Though I was never much of a partier in my undergrad days,  during Homecoming I would attempt to get into the Bison spirit and enjoy the free all day concert that is Yardfest. Come see all the big name acts get booed before they are known ( the real reason Kayne won’t come back to Howard), along with a host of other memorable events.

4) Go to a Festival

September brings the Black Luv festival as well as the Adams Morgan Day Festival. Both aren’t to be missed!

5) Hang out with your Friends

Schools back in session and all your good friends have returned... so enjoy their  company while exploring the city.

Take these tips, put them in your pocket, or wrap them up in your scarf when it gets a little cooler...nonetheless enjoy yourself…
