frankly its pretty disgusting politics and a horrible way to abuse the service of those pictured. The person who created it should be ashamed.
You hit the nail on the head. This war is pretty disgusting politics and a horrible way to abuse the service of those pictured and everyone else who served, and the person or persons who created it should be ashamed and, when possible, prosecuted.
The only people that should be ashamed are the ones that caused all of these needless deaths in a war of CHOICE.
Frankly, the only thing I am ashamed of is the fact that we have let American society deteriorate to the point where these politicians can belittle my fellow veterans deaths by hiding the coffins, not attending funerals, no mention in the SCLM. And the American public accepts these terms?
We cannot hammer the administration for trotting out the "If we pull out now, we dishonor those who fell" rationale if we are going to use them for propoganda as well.
neither can they trot out the "anti-war hippie leftist subversives dishonor our soldiers by protesting while they're in combat" canard. Or, in Nixonese, it makes it harder to call us "bums" if we're clearly motivated by a desire to protect our soldiers from our government.
But you raise a very valid point that speaks to the need to mold the message so as to create a receptive audience (edhula3's response above is a good example of where the video fails to be effective). I personally thought the video was brilliant considering the target audience, but not for a mass audience. But even if it became a big thing (like Olbermann showing it, or Tucker Carlson, or O'Reilly) there's an easy line to defend it: it's about saving soldiers' lives.
Though the author does seem to spend a lot of time using photos of the fallen in his videos. I hope he/she moves on to another format or media.
I am no hippie. I am a veteran of the US Army Infantry.
Are there many that caused all of this that can claim the same? No, very few.
While this does not invalidate the neochickens point of view, it does mean that not only do I have a valid point in this, but I also have a valid point of view to make thiese observations.
