Okay, this is despicable. But I can't help but find it hilarious that those responsible appear to think that gay rights activists refer to themselves as "the homosexual lobby." Morons.

I'm actually more mad...

...at the voters than at the campaign that pulled the robo-call.

In a rational world, pointing out the support of your opponent for equal rights for gays and lesbians should give them a boost, not hurt them.

If I were Beshear, I'd say "You know what? The robo-call is silly, but it's accurate. I *do* support gay rights. And if you don't, you're more than welcome to vote for my opponent."

And if the people vote for his opponent because of it? Well, they've damned themselves with their own backward idiocy, and they have only themselves to blame.

Of course, Beshear would never do that -- because taking a stand on the most fundamental human rights issue in American life today is less important to him than winning the election.

And so I have a hard time mustering much sympathy for him -- he picked the crass, low road, catering to the lowest common denominator, and his opponent is joining him there.
