Stanford is joining a growing list of schools rolling out big-time tuition-relief plans:
In a radical change to its financial aid program, Stanford University will announce today that it will no longer charge tuition to students whose families earn less than $100,000 a year.
In addition, the university will waive room and board fees for students whose families earn less than $60,000 a year.
Good news, yes, but this trend has been limited mostly to top-tier schools. (via reddit)

But really, what will make the most difference is increases to funding for state schools that directly go to reducing tuition, especially for middle- and low-income students. If you grow up in a working-class family, state schools should be free.
That, I imagine, will be a harder fight.
