-55% of Americans disaprove of Bush's overall job performance,
-50% describe him as dishonest,
-60% think the country is on the wrong track, and
-56% describe Bush as "arrogant."
Yet 64% see him as "strong," 63% as "likeable," 56% as "intelligent," and a whopping 55% as "dependable."
I am crazy or is there something absurd about these numbers?

likeable comes because he stumbles so much and is seen as "being an average guy" (btw, I REALLY want an "average" person to be pres)
"dependable" because he is "strong" and follows his will
"intelligent" i'll get back to you, I mean he really is a...
Sure, people may not feel threatened by him. But to give the opinion that "they like him because they're stupid and he doesn't threaten their stupidity" credence plays to all the worst stereotypes of 'liberal elitism', I think.
