For free tickets to the 7pm thursday screening of this year's "March of the Penguins," go to http://www.arctictalemovie.com/ and enter your info as directed (make sure to uncheck all the boxes unless you want Paramount Pictures sending you junk mail).

Arctic Tale, narrated by Queen Latifah and starring some ADORABLE little creatures, is the "true" (read: not true!) story of Seela and Nanu, a baby walrus and polar bear as they grow up in the melting Arctic wilderness.

So it's a kind of true story.  In actuality, the narratives of each of these cubs is actually a compilation of shots taken of different animals over 15 years of filming.   The footage of the Arctic is gorgeous, and the plight of the wild animals compelling, so I'm personally willing to overlook this slight falsehood  in the hopes that the narrative format and anthropomorphism will inspire a new generation of conservationists.  After all, it was the cartoonish cuteness of manatees that got me hooked on "being an environmentalist" when I was 9.

If you can't make it tomorrow, this will be showing all over the place starting today.
