The much-anticipated text message that some-to many of you-may be recieving shortly regarding Obama's selection for his running mate may hold little significance now.

According to the Washington Post, and now assumed as valid via the MSM such as CNN and MSNBC, the news is that Senator Joe Biden will be Obama's running mate.

In my opinion-one I've shared with many for at least the last two years--this was the inevitable choice if the Democratic Party wanted to do that which they've been less than stellar with in recent years: that is to say, selecting a candidate based upon not just heart but mind as well.

Of course the "hearts and minds" reference is one used as semantics according to the particular framer, however, one of the problems with the Kerry nomination of 2004 was that while it did make perfect sense to select a candidate with a rich and prestigious past as a Vietnam warrior, in many respects there wasn't much overall excitement and enthusiasm for such a pick.

This time around with the charismatic and popular Barrack Obama representing a "change we can believe in" Joe Biden provides an intense and deeply knowledgeable front in future debates.

Of course, Biden's experience with foreign policy is essential in this year's debates.  Unlike Kerry however, who make a lot of great points, Biden provides unbridled emotion and enthusiasm to go with it.  Consider one of my personal favorite speechs by Biden on Iraq and in direct response to McBush, I mean McCain.

Overall, I'm ecstatic about this move by Obama.  Perhaps more than anything, Biden--with the possible exception of Hillary and Bill, knows both how to respond to the ridiculousness of the right-wing noise machine and how to pre-emptively strike and strip it of any notions of moral and ethical pretense.   Here, consider Biden's analysis of Rudy Giuliani's constant use of 9-11 to attack Dems:

Meh...

I can't say I'm too excited about this pick. And when you pick a VP to bolster your foreign policy creds, all of the media attention then re-focuses on your lack of foreign policy creds!

He's cozy with big money (they call him "The Senator from MBNA" for a reason), has a middling record on choice, and voted for the Patriot Act & Iraq AUMF.

And it certainly doesn't help that Biden repeatedly called Obama "not ready to lead" in the Dem debates. I'm sure that'll be the subject of many an attack ad. A Sebelius pick would have been better, I think, but there was speculation she turned it down.

Yes, no doubt the right will use such commentary--from Biden himself--to raise questions about his apparent lack of experience on this topic. However-as it goes in the long run-when forced to make a rather concrete, black and white determination--I'd be willing to put money on this singular equation:

Obama will do significantly better if he were attempting to quell potential foreign policy and national security questions by association than he would to otherwise. In fact, the only other potential pick for me regarding V.P. choice would have been Senator Jimm Webb from Virginia.

Also keep in mind an America outside the trenches. One that voted for George Bush with longtime--D.C. insider Cheney who--at the time--seemed to solidify experience over notions of "judgement". True we know how that worked out....still it did work...much to the devastation of our country.

I guess the simple question becomes: who would you've picked??

O.K. I see you mentioned Sebelius. Fair enough.

I know for certain not too much buzz would surround this pick for better or for worse.

While Biden will be vetted as mentioned there's not a chance in hell his record over the long haul as a committed and fiery protector of essential Democratic values and principles will akin themselves to a larger, more comprehensive dilemma we now face: the Dems need to win.

To say these issues do not matter would be insulting frankly and so I can't disagree with a fair-minded analysis of Biden. However, the more people come to understand his record the better off this country will become. I have no doubt about that whatsoever.

Obama on Payday Lending
By Payday Loan Advocate Sep 23rd 2008 at 2:33 am EDT (Updated Sep 23rd 2008 at 2:33 am EDT)
Some in the government, like Barack Obama, are seeking to limit the American peoples’ access to on-demand, short term financial assistance. Some cities and towns are trying to impose restrictions on where these legitimate businesses can set up shop. Even worse, several states, including Georgia and North Carolina, have successfully imposed all-out bans on the industry, with several more attempting to follow suit. Citizens all across the nation are seeking to have their voices heard by fighting legislation that would obliterate the payday loan industry nationwide; misinformed political officials are pushing for a complete ban in the name of personal political gain, regardless of the hundreds of thousands of potential lost jobs in an already turbulent economy.

Election Day is coming...
By Payday Loan Advocate Nov 3rd 2008 at 12:03 am EST (Updated Nov 3rd 2008 at 12:03 am EST)
Think the Philadelphia Phillies are the only story in Pennsylvania this week? Think again. Both John McCain and Barack Obama are braving the torrential downpour that forced umpires to call the Phillies-Rays World Series baseball game on Monday night. Election Day is the temporary finish line for the weary candidates, but for the winner, that’s merely the first signpost on a great marathon. Morning rallies by McCain/Palin and Obama (where’s Biden?) were attended by thousands, McCain in Hershey and Obama spreading his message to the open-eared at Widener University outside Philadelphia. McCain says he’ll fight on, despite what the polls and pundits predict, Palin defends the attack mentality the GOP has taken against Obama/Biden and Obama maintains that McCain will bring America “more of the same,” straight from the George W. Bush menu. For those of us who have ever used quick loans, that more of the same just might mean that they will still be available, that we will hold on to that much of our financial freedom. Under a Democratic president and dominant Democratic Congress, we may not have that choice.

Learn Money Management...
By Lisa P Nov 15th 2008 at 6:13 am EST (Updated Nov 15th 2008 at 6:13 am EST)
Every one of us has there own responsibility. One of these responsibilities especially to those parents is to teach their children on how to save money in a more practical way. Like nowadays, credit disaster is still in full swing. It’s vital at this time that those of us that have credit worries looming, engage in credit repair, but there’s something that’s even more vital. We must teach our kids about money management, lest they meet with the same fate in the future. Visual aids, savings plans for stuff of their own, there are many great methods for teaching kids to be money-smart. They also need to know about the three biggest items of credit that they will deal with in their lifetimes, and those are cars, houses, and perhaps the most dangerous of the three, credit cards. All three can land anyone in boiling hot water very quickly, and it is vital that our children be taught about responsible use and planning from an early age. Many Americans have to resort to credit repair services, and while there should be no stigma about it due to the behavior of the credit industry of late, it is better to have planned properly, which is precisely the lesson our children should learn.
