If you've been paying any attention to the Presidential primaries, you must have seen the cheerful and hope-ful ads of Americans from Balanced Energy Choices (ABEC) and the new-name-same-story American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity. In these ads you see decent, diverse, hard-working blue collar Americans talking about the solution to all our problems:

CLEAN COAL

Unfortunately, what these people aren't telling you is that burning coal = Burning The Future.

As Robert Novak's newest film, Burning the Future, suggests, there is more to coal than hits the eye in the beautiful ABEC commercials.

From mountaintop removal mining to the toxic emissions (yes, less toxic in the past, but still toxic) of its combustion, coal is not only an enemy of the planet, it is the nemesis of communities throughout the United States that are devastated by the greed of our society (and King Coal) [Update: see picture of School located next to coal slurry].

If you would like to learn more about the human aspect of our addiction to climate change, I highly recommend that you watch Burning the Future on the Sundance Channel this Sunday at 3:35 PM.

If you won't be able to see it this Sunday, write us an e-mail at organize@campusprogress.org and we can help you set up a screening on your campus!
