Losing Your Home, Sleeping in Your Car

I used to live in one of the wealthiest cities in the world: Santa Barbara, CA.  I could barely afford to share a one-bedroom apartment with one of my best friends.  Others aren't so lucky.

Check out this CNN Story about a group of formerly middle-class women all sleeping in their cars in a parking lot in Santa Barbara.  They used to have homes and full-time jobs, but the economic crisis has forced them to give up their homes and move into their cars.  The median price of a home there, BTW, is about $1,000,000.

There is really no alternative affordable housing in the city, something that would have helped to offset this problem.
