A 15–year-old gay student, Lawrence King, was shot by a classmate in Oxnard, California on Tuesday morning (approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 40 miles south of Santa Barbara).

Lawrence was declared brain dead yesterday afternoon, and from the details that have emerged so far, it appears the shooting was related to Lawrence’s sexual orientation and gender expression.
