Ahh, David Horowitz, former radical Marxist, and now right wing talking head, responsible for such gems as Islamofascism Awareness Week, and the book about dangerous academics. I was thrilled to hear he’d be speaking at my alma mater, UCSB.
And what did Horowitz have to say? He reiterated his claim that many Muslim Student Associations have ties to Al Qaeda. He also asked a student wearing a kaffiyeh (Palestinian male headdress), why he was wearing a "terrorist headscarf.”
Ross Nolan, the student who introduced Horowitz and sponsored the event, wrote a letter to our daily paper after the event, defending his choice to bring Horowitz and bashing on those who got offended:
"The radical leftist professors on our campus who spew anti-Americanism daily do have this power, and they all too often abuse it. They get away with slandering all that I believe in, and no one cares. Horowitz takes on radical Islam, and all hell breaks loose."
If you want to get involved with a the Free Exchange on Campus coalition that Campus Progress is a part of, check out their site. They combat a lot of the work of Horowitz' team.

I remember when David Horowitz came to talk at U.C. Berkeley. I was in the front row when a shouting match broke out - and then David left the event.
