When I was in Tijuana learning about immigration and the relationship between Mexico and the United States, I was told by a priest who worked in a Migrant shelter who said, "What we have in common is greater than the differences that divide us." His words reminded me a lot of the sentiment in this article you shared. How important is it to compare and contrast and then realize- if we are all human, why are we all so willing to hurt each other? Why are we so ready to kill each other, our own species, same biological substances? It never ceases to confuse and hurt me. The following excerpt really said it well:
"So far this century proceeds apace: famines and genocides, invasions, occupations and suicide bombers. Humankind goes on burning the bridges in front and behind us without apology, our own worst enemies, God help us all."
