I hate to admit it, but I have a soft spot for Recessions Resturant and Bar. They have some of the best happy hour specials, assuming you like fried food and cheap drinks. It is one of the few places in DC where you can still get a lot of bang for your buck.
Recessions is located on 1823 L street, next to a much nicer (but more expensive) bar called Mackeys. Recessions has dart boards and pool tables for people who like to be a little bit active as they drink. On Friday night karoke is fun for those of you who haven't suffered enough humilation in your lifetime or just really want to hear an off-key rendition of some washed-up boy band's top 40s hit.
Despite the orange stucco walls and the fact that it's in a basement, Recessions isn't a bad place to hang with friends, and make a few dollar bills go a long way.
