I am honestly happy for them if that is the decision they are making. People will probably write nasty comments, but I never understood why someone would care bout something that has absolutely nothing to do with them. Everyone has an opinion I guess, no matter how bigoted it may be. As someone with transgender friends, I am excited that they will be having a child.
I'm already nervous about the scary comments this post will generate...
Transgender male, Thomas Beatie, writes a first person narrative at The Advocate detailing the personal, legal, and social hurdles he faces now that he's decided to carry the child of his wife, Nancy.
He says:
I am transgender, legally male, and legally married to Nancy...Sterilization is not a requirement for sex reassignment, so I decided to have chest reconstruction and testosterone therapy but kept my reproductive rights. Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire, but a human desire.
