In addition to helping to build a better world, working with Campus Progress sometimes means getting to meet people you admire -- activists, writers, officeholders, and people whose music is still ringing in your ears even as you type this. This fall, Campus Progress students have had the chance to meet some amazing people while tabling at stops all along the Foo Fighters-Weezer tour -- thousands of music fans who also care about issues from the economy to oil, Katrina to privacy to Iraq. Our staff also has had the chance to meet the Foos, especially guitarist Chris Shiflett, who has been an amazing supporter of our work.

Last night and well into this morning the Foo Fighters played their second show in the DC area in less than a week -- this time in the semi-intimate setting of the 9:30 Club. No Weezer, but a double dose of Foos -- a two and a half hour set that included not just the hits but lots of rarely-played album tracks, Dave Grohl dancing on top of the bar, and 9:30 Club impresario Seth Hurwitz hitting the drums for an encore version of the band's Katrina benefit number, Credence's "Born on the Bayou."
